After countless sleepless nights and helpless calls, I decided to build the app I wished I had: one that could watch over them when I couldn’t. Together, we’re turning personal pain into a public solution.” The myCareShield Story — A Promise Across Continents I’m Sourov, and MyCareShield is not just a startup—it’s a lifeline born from love, distance, and an urgent need to care. For over 25 years, I’ve lived in Boston, while my parents continued to age independently in New Delhi. Like many of us living away from home, I carried a constant ache—the guilt of absence, the fear of “what if.” What if they fall? What if no one notices? What if something happens in the middle of the night? Like so many other senior citizen parents, my father, after 60, began battling heart disease, high blood pressure, and arthritis. My mother developed mobility issues and struggled to manage her sugar levels. Though attendants were present, they often lacked empathy and training—there was no consistency, no oversight, and sadly, little real care. I felt helpless. Calls and check-ins weren’t enough. I needed to know. I needed to protect—even if from 7,000 miles away. That deep, gnawing worry became the spark – the progenitor for myCareShield. I visualised a simple yet powerful tool—a digital guardian that could silently watch over my parents, alert me instantly in moments of danger, and offer real-time insight into their health and safety. Not to replace human care, but to elevate it. Not to intrude, but to quietly reassure. So I built it ground upwards in close collaboration with Dr Anil Nair – a practising neurologist with over 20 years of experience. myCareShield began with all the critical safety features: Fall detection. SOS and voice SOS. Inactivity alerts. Car crash and loud noise detection. Live location sharing. A virtual shield that could notify trusted contacts in real-time, before a crisis became a tragedy. But deep within, I knew safety was just one side of care. Real peace of mind comes from prevention—from knowing, noticing, and acting within the Golden Hour. So, we integrated remote health monitoring: heart rate, oxygen, glucose, steps, sleep—everything synced in real-time with Samsung Health and shared with loved ones. No more waiting for bad news. No more blind spots. Next, we added appointment reminders, medication tracking, and access to medical records. Because care isn’t just about emergencies, it’s about ensuring everyday dignity and quality of life. This app – then - is my way of keeping a promise that I made to my parents: that I’d always be around, even when I’m not there. It’s for every son, every daughter, every family torn between two worlds. It’s for the seniors who deserve to age with freedom, without fear. Our objective is simple: to make sure ageing doesn’t mean isolation, and distance doesn’t mean disconnect. With myCareShield, help is always near. Love is always present. And no one needs to suffer in silence – ever again.

As a neurologist practicing in Boston for over two decades, I’ve cared for thousands of seniors battling conditions like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stroke, and epilepsy. But what stayed with me wasn’t just the complexity of these diseases—it’s the heartbreak of preventable emergencies, missed warnings, and silent suffering. Time and again, I saw patients come into the ER after a fall, a missed dose, or a health decline that had gone unnoticed for days, sometimes weeks. These weren’t just clinical failures. They were emotional ones. I often thought, If only someone had known earlier. If only someone had been there. Even families who cared deeply were often powerless and living with guilt, being far away, juggling careers and families, or simply unaware of what was happening at home. And for seniors, this often translates into isolation, delayed care, and fear. That’s when the idea of myCareShield began to crystallise. What if there were a tool—not just digital, but deeply intuitive—that could act as a guardian for seniors and be a lifeline for their families? Happenstance led me to meet Sourov, our co-founder, and hear his story, and then, it all fell in place. We shared the same worries - ageing parents living alone in India, while we, their children living overseas, lived with constant worry and a degree of helplessness. I knew it was time to bring my medical insights into something meaningful. My role became clear: translate decades of clinical knowledge into actionable, life-saving features. What should we monitor? How should we respond? What early signs should raise red flags? The answers guided every feature—fall detection, noise alerts, inactivity monitoring, and health vitals shared in real-time. But this app goes beyond alerts and numbers. It’s about restoring peace of mind to sons and daughters thousands of miles away, and to the seniors who deserve safety without losing their independence. It’s about giving families the ability to say, “I may not be there, but I’ve still got your back.” For me, myCareShield isn’t just a project—it’s a personal mission. It’s the care I wish every senior could receive. It’s the confidence I want every family to feel. And it’s the belief I’ve always held as a doctor: that timely intervention and connection can save lives.
